Tutors matched to the exam your child actually sits

Quick answer

Al Noor Tuition teaches Cambridge O Level, IGCSE and A Level, Pearson Edexcel, the Federal Board and the provincial BISE boards. Each subject page below sets out the syllabus code, how the papers are structured, and where students most often lose marks in that subject on that board — because the same subject is examined differently by different boards, and preparing for the wrong one is a common and expensive mistake.

Exam boards — your questions answered

Which exam boards do Al Noor tutors teach?

Cambridge O Level, IGCSE and A Level, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and International A Level, the Federal Board (FBISE) and the provincial BISE boards for Matric and FSc. Tutors are matched to the specification a student is actually entered for, because paper structures and practical assessment differ between boards even when the content overlaps.

Does the board really change how a subject should be taught?

Yes, more than most families expect. Cambridge A Level Physics assesses planning and evaluation in a separate written paper; Edexcel does not assess it the same way. IGCSE Mathematics is tiered and caps Core candidates at a grade C; O Level Mathematics is not tiered but has a non-calculator paper. Teaching a student as though they sit the other specification costs marks that have nothing to do with how well they understand the subject.

What do the syllabus codes mean?

Every Cambridge syllabus has a four-digit code — 5054 for O Level Physics, 9702 for A Level Physics, 0580 for IGCSE Mathematics — and it identifies exactly which papers a student sits and which past papers to practise. Confirm the code on the school entry before buying materials; codes are occasionally retired and syllabuses are revised between cycles.

Can we get a tutor for a subject not listed here?

Usually yes. These pages cover the subjects we are asked about most often; the tutor network is considerably wider, including Islamiat, Pakistan Studies, Urdu, Further Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology and Literature. Tell us the board, the subject and the level and we will say honestly whether we have a specialist for it.
