About the test

Spanish is measured on the CEFR levels, from A1 to C2. The Instituto Cervantes runs two main exams: the DELE, one exam per level on set dates, whose diploma does not expire, and the SIELE, one online exam that reports your level up to C1 and is valid for five years. Spanish nationality usually requires DELE A2 or higher plus the CCSE test on Spanish society and the constitution.

Questions about Spanish

Which Spanish level do I need for Spanish nationality?

Usually DELE A2 or higher, plus the CCSE test on Spanish society and the constitution. Citizens of Spanish-speaking countries are exempt from the language exam. Requirements change, so check the official rules.

Do I need to know any of the language already?

No. The course starts with the alphabet, greetings and numbers, with Roman and Urdu pronunciation guides and an English meaning under every phrase. You can turn the guides off as you improve.

Are the explanations in English?

Yes. Grammar is explained in English, and everything you hear, read and write in practice is in the language you are learning. Writing and speaking are marked in that language, with comments in English.
