Confirm PTE Academic and your score requirement
Pearson offers different PTE tests, so confirm the accepted test and scores with the receiving organisation. A class described only as “PTE” should clarify which test it prepares you for.
Use the current official PTE Academic task descriptions and score guidance. Older practice packs may omit newer tasks, so review the material’s format before relying on its mock score.
Prepare for the current speaking tasks
Pearson’s updated PTE Academic includes Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. For a discussion summary, practise identifying speakers’ main points and expressing how they relate. For a situation response, practise addressing the communication purpose and the person you are speaking to.
Record your attempt and listen for omitted content, unclear organisation and intelligibility. Feedback should address the response you made, rather than only whether it followed a fixed script. Include the other current speaking tasks in your practice plan too.
Writing: follow the task and review your language
A summary needs the central meaning, not a list of disconnected phrases. An essay needs a relevant response, developed reasoning and clear language. Follow the current task instructions and constraints.
After feedback, revise the answer and try a new prompt. Keep an error log of grammar, spelling and organisation problems so practice changes what you can do, rather than only repeating a familiar exercise.
Reading and listening: identify the reason for each error
For reading, distinguish vocabulary gaps from problems following the passage or interpreting the task. For listening, practise retaining key information and checking whether the response matches what was heard.
Use timed practice after you understand the task. Review wrong answers while the reasoning is still fresh, and connect practice across skills when a task draws on more than one.

Start with a diagnostic, list the required skill scores and agree which tasks need the most attention. Confirm how the teacher reviews audio and writing, the weekly timetable and the lesson fee.

What are the newer PTE Academic speaking tasks?
