About the test
French is measured on the CEFR levels, from A1 to C2. The DELF covers A1 to B2 and the DALF C1 and C2, and their diplomas do not expire. TEF Canada and TCF Canada report results on Canadian levels and are used for Canadian immigration, including Express Entry; other versions of the TCF are used for university entry and for residence or nationality in France.

Questions about French
Which French test do I need for Canada?
TEF Canada or TCF Canada. Their results are converted to Canadian levels, and French can add points in Express Entry. Check the current rules before you book.
Do I need to know any of the language already?
No. The course starts with the alphabet, greetings and numbers, with Roman and Urdu pronunciation guides and an English meaning under every phrase. You can turn the guides off as you improve.
Are the explanations in English?
Yes. Grammar is explained in English, and everything you hear, read and write in practice is in the language you are learning. Writing and speaking are marked in that language, with comments in English.
