Our homeschooling policy — in plain language

How the programme works, how teachers are checked, what happens to your child’s record, and what we ask of you. Written to be read by a parent, not by a lawyer.

Last reviewed 4 September 2026

Quick answer

Al Noor’s homeschooling programme is parent-led and evidence-based: you teach, we supply the daily plan, the materials and — where you want one — a verified teacher. Progress is recorded against a competency only when there is evidence behind it. Teachers are identity- and qualification-verified before being matched, and all teacher-family contact stays on the platform so it can be reviewed if a concern is raised. A parent or responsible adult is present for sessions with young children. Each family’s learning record is private to that family and the staff who support it, is excluded from search engines, and can be exported or deleted on request. We are not an examination board and do not award qualifications.

How the programme works

The parent teaches; we support

This is a parent-led programme. We do not replace you as your child’s teacher, and we do not ask you to hand your child over to a screen for the day. We supply the plan, the words to say, the materials, and a teacher for the subjects you would rather not teach yourself.

Mastery moves on evidence, not on ticking

A competency is only recorded as progressing when there is something behind it — a photograph, a recording, a piece of work, or a dated note of what you observed. We do not mark a skill learned because a box was ticked or a video was watched.

The record belongs to your family

Everything recorded about your child is your record. You can view it, print it, and take it with you. If you leave the programme you may ask us to export it or delete it.

We tell you what we do not know

Where rules vary by board, or where something depends on your provincial education department, we say so rather than guessing. Our guidance pages are written for parents and are not legal advice.

Safeguarding

Keeping children safe

Teachers are verified before they teach

We check identity and claimed qualifications before a teacher can be matched with a family, and a verified badge on a profile means that check has been completed. Teachers who do not complete verification are not matched.

Contact stays on the platform

Teachers and families communicate through Al Noor’s messaging, not through private numbers. This is deliberate: a conversation that happens on the platform can be reviewed if there is ever a concern, and one that happens on a personal phone cannot. Teachers are instructed not to move families to private channels.

A parent or guardian is present

For young children, sessions take place with a parent or another responsible adult present or nearby, in a shared part of the home rather than behind a closed door. For online sessions we ask that the device is used in a family space.

Concerns are escalated, not managed quietly

Any safeguarding concern raised by a family, a teacher or a staff member is escalated to Al Noor management. We may suspend a teacher’s account while a concern is looked into. Where a child appears to be at risk of harm, we will act on that rather than treat it as a customer service matter.

You can change or stop a match

You are not obliged to keep a teacher you are uncomfortable with, and you do not have to give a reason. Tell us and we will stop the match and, if you want, look for another teacher.

Privacy

Your child’s record

Your family record is private by default

A child’s learning record — activities, evidence, photographs, recordings and mastery — is visible to the guardians on that family account and to the Al Noor staff who support your family. It is never visible to other families.

It is kept out of search engines by design

The homeschool application carries a site-wide instruction to search engines not to index any of it, and family records sit behind sign-in. Nothing your child produces becomes a public page.

Evidence files are stored privately

Photographs and recordings you upload are held in private storage and served through short-lived links to signed-in members of your family. They are not published at a guessable public address.

We do not sell or share your data

We do not sell family or child data, and we do not pass it to advertisers. Where we use a third-party service to run the platform — hosting, storage, email — it processes data on our instructions in order to deliver the service.

You may export or delete it

Write to us and we will export your child’s record to you, or delete it. Ask, and we will confirm what we hold about your family.

What each side commits to

What we ask of you

  • Be present. This programme assumes an adult is with the child for the daily sessions.
  • Record honestly. Evidence that reflects what actually happened is what makes the mastery record worth anything.
  • Keep one account per family, and tell us who the guardians are. Do not share your sign-in with people outside the family.
  • Treat teachers respectfully, and keep contact on the platform.
  • Tell us early when something is not working — a teacher, a level, or the pace. Almost everything is fixable in the first month.

What you can expect from us

  • A daily plan for every level we publish, with the activity, the words to say, what to look for, and the evidence to record.
  • Verified teachers matched to your board, class and subject, in your city or online.
  • A private, exportable record of your child’s work and progress.
  • A named person to escalate to when something goes wrong.
  • Honest guidance, including telling you when homeschooling is not the right choice for your family.
Concerns and complaints

If something goes wrong

Raise it with us directly — by message inside the platform, on WhatsApp, or by email. Tell us what happened and what you would like done about it. Most problems with a teacher, a level or the pace are straightforward to fix in the first few weeks, and are much harder to fix after a term of silence.

A concern about a teacher’s conduct, or about a child’s safety, is escalated to Al Noor management rather than handled by the person you first spoke to. We may suspend a teacher’s account while we look into it. We will tell you what we have done.

Questions about fees, packages and what is included are handled by our team — see pricing or ask us directly, because the answer depends on your child’s class, subjects and whether you want a teacher in person or online.

Policy — FAQs

What is Al Noor’s homeschooling policy?

Our programme is parent-led and evidence-based: the parent teaches, we supply the daily plan, materials and — where needed — a verified teacher. Progress is only recorded against a competency when there is evidence behind it. Teachers are identity- and qualification-verified before matching, all teacher-family contact stays on the platform so it can be reviewed if a concern arises, and a parent or responsible adult is present for sessions with young children. Each family’s learning record is private to that family and the staff supporting them, is excluded from search engines, and can be exported or deleted on request.

How are your homeschooling teachers checked?

Before a teacher can be matched with a family we verify their identity and the qualifications they claim. A verified badge on a teacher profile means that check has been completed; teachers who do not complete verification are not matched with families. Teachers are also required to keep contact with families on the Al Noor platform rather than through private numbers, and we may suspend an account while any concern is looked into.

Who can see my child’s learning record?

The guardians on your family account, and the Al Noor staff who support your family. Other families cannot see it, and it is not published or indexed by search engines. Photographs and recordings you upload are held in private storage and served through short-lived links to signed-in members of your family.

Can I delete my child’s data?

Yes. Contact us and we will delete your child’s learning record, or export it to you first if you would like to keep it. You can also ask us to confirm what we hold about your family.

What happens if I am unhappy with a teacher?

Tell us and we will stop the match. You do not need to give a reason. If you want, we will look for a different teacher for the same subject. If your concern is about a teacher’s conduct rather than their teaching, raise it as a concern and it will be escalated to Al Noor management, and the teacher’s account may be suspended while it is looked into.

Does Al Noor issue certificates or qualifications?

No. We are not an examination board and we do not award qualifications. Our record shows what your child has done and what they can do, which supports a school admission or your own planning. Formal qualifications come from your examination board — a BISE board for Matric and Intermediate, or Cambridge for O and A Level — where your child sits the examination as a private candidate.
