Offentlige kontorer (public offices)

Newcomers deal with a few public offices again and again:

• NAV — work, unemployment benefit, sick pay, child benefit and pensions;

• Skatteetaten — tax, and Folkeregisteret, where your address is registered;

Most of it is done online: you log in with BankID or MinID through ID-porten. Letters often come to your digital mailbox instead of the post.

• Hvor finner jeg skjemaet?Say: voor finnuhr yai shehmaat?وُور فِننَر یائی شےمات?Means: Where do I find the form?
• Når er fristen?Say: nohr ehr fristuhn?نور اےر فرِستَن?Means: When is the deadline?

Getting help

• Kan jeg få tolk?Say: kan yai foh tolk?کان یائی فو تولک?Means: Can I have an interpreter?
• Kan du forklare det en gang til?Say: kan doo forklaruh deh ehn gang teel?کان دُو فورکلارَ دے اےن گانگ تیل?Means: Can you explain it once more?
• Kan jeg få det skriftlig?Say: kan yai foh deh skriftli?کان یائی فو دے سکرِفتلِ?Means: Can I have it in writing?
